Welcome to Badde Manors Cafe,
one of the very few "true" cafes still standing
high in the inner suburbs of Sydney. This iconic establishment
has withered the storms of change of the 80's and 90's with
flying colours. The melting pot of migrant and student population
in the inner west of Sydney has caused dramatic change to
the social fabric and in particular the coffee and food aspects.
Badde Manors flourished through such storms by sticking to
its original promise of providing unique food and drink experience
within a bohemic, relaxed and ecclectic environment.
Badde Manors has maintaned its strong commitment
to authentic coffee house culture of 50's and 60's. It is
a warm and inviting place, where you will find something to
satisfy your desire at any time of the day. The cafe is open
7.30 am to midnight every day of the week (till 2 am on Friday
and Saturday through out the year. Among the wide variety
of hot and cold beverages (many are derived from other cultures),
you have to experience the Chai tea which is a house developed
recipe that has become synonimous with many rare and delighful
products one can savour at Badde Manors.
Food:
Vegetarian, eclectic, generous, oriented
towards modern Australian cuisine with a sophisticated adoption
of oriental, asian, north African and meditarranean dishes.
Because all our food is prepared in-house, great deal of detail
and care is invested in producing the wholesome and tasty
meals that BaddeManors is renowned for.
The kitchen has been managed by Mr. Robert
Oliver, a local Glebe chef and vegetarian for many years.
Robert has influenced much of the food and cooking techniques
since joining BaddeManors in November 2005, which is evidenced
by the unique flavouring and aroma of the meals. Our dedication
to quality and best service principles drives our commitments
to prepare food from freshest and best quality produce.
With the constant and rapid changes to our
environment our dietary needs are also evolving. BaddeManors
strives to accommodate wider and wider circles of customers
with special needs e.g., gluten-free, vegan, non-dairy etc
etc…
Gelato:
Until June 2005, gelato was made on the premises
at Badde Manors using house recipies developed by the original
owner Mr. Robert Sebes. However, with the growth of the business,
pressure was mounting on every square inch of space which
forced us to source the gelato from outside. In doing so,
we made sure that that excellent quality gelato is still available
to our customers and increased the sorbets to about 50%.
Cakes & Deserts:
Hungarian, French, Italian, Portuguese etc.
Sourced from eight pastry cooks plus our own. Our delicious
Tiramisu is still made in -house to our original recipe. Also,
the mouth-watering Carrot cake is still made by Paula, who
by the way, was the first chef to take the helm in the kitchen
at Badde Manors Cafe in 1982.
